I know, that Fanfic Appreciation Week, it's over! Still, I am gonna do my appreciations as planned. And I say planned as I actually wrote a list. Am just way lazy and was a bit occupied with having to veg out, going to the theatre to see Leander Haußmann's production of A Midsummer Night's Dream at the Berliner Ensemble (scary, long and a bit of a bore) and discussing old viewing pleasures with [livejournal.com profile] lizzy232. Such as Space: Above and Beyond. My goodness, that was good TV! Have the first 4 eps now, thanks to [livejournal.com profile] spiritcrow and am considering downloading the rest. Only 8GB worth of my time and such. But I have to have it. And the series is not out on DVD yet. ::grmpf:: Also: I finally got to see The Princess' Bride. What a wonderful movie. Bad!Fic on film. Real fun!
Anyway, getting back to the fanfic appreciation:

One of the many, many writers I adore now, [livejournal.com profile] pepperlandgirl4 was recced to me (and tons others) by [livejournal.com profile] nautibitz. Her saga Mr. William and the continuing parts are wonderful. Actually a little lost for words here. Let'S just put it this way: From Pepper, I even read angst, and I enjoy it. Her current WiP Be Thou My God is way interesting and it's exhilarating to read.
I don't exactly remember how I stumbled upon [livejournal.com profile] sadbhyl's writing. Did Nauti also rec her? It could well have been. Anyway, the first story I read was More Than Strangers, and it's still one of my favourite stories. I simply love Savvy's way of depicting the characters and the scenery. It's always done in great detail but not overly, just the right way. I feel like seeing a movie when I read her stories. An X-rated one. [livejournal.com profile] sadbhyl writes some hot stuff, I tell ya'll! One of my fav scenes: The Satin and Lace chapter. Talk about yummy! What's so great with her writing is it doesn't stop at one good point. Not only is the scenery painted beautifully; she also achieves funny, catchy, realistic dialogues, her characters are rounded and feel "alive", their motives are clear. It's like a gift to read one of her stories.
Sadly, [livejournal.com profile] jypzrose doesn't write fanfic anymore, but what she wrote makes more than up for that! Well, she writes original fiction now and does well (at least until meeting the red marks!) or so it seems. I hope at least!
Her fanfic is outstanding. Arizona makes me weep every time I read it. I love the whole Slayer/Vampire child-birth bit, the way Spike is so devoted to her and how Buffy manages to live on her own and care for their son. It's great.
Speedway is one of the best known Spuffy AU stories and it deserves all the praise it gets. I don't know whether it was the first but it was among them. It's giving the Buffy/Spike relationship a transition into "Normal Life" without taking it's nature away and still letting them be themselves.
My last person on this very shortened list is [livejournal.com profile] kantayra. Whenever I feel like reading and I don't know what and don't want to search I go to her site and look for another one of her brilliant little stories. A lot of them are good fun, some are sad, but they are always a great read. Like Dream Girls (which has a very slutty Buffy) or A Day Out. Funny, fluffy with a lot of original ideas.

I have a lot of other authors who I like bunches. The ones I mentioned the last couple of days I'd follow where ever. And I am never disappointed. Sorry if I am a bit sucky with words, I am a reader, not a writer.
Love Nele
