Serenity
Wow, I just saw Serenity. And no, I hadn't finished with Firefly yet, which I would advise people to do, but I couldn't wait any longer. Felt nice going to the cinema alone. There were not too many people there so me laughing and crying and shouting Josss! all the time got noticed. Whatever!
Aaaaargh! Can't believe they killed so many! Sure, it's a movie and not a series where mostly all of the cast is sure to survive, still. ::mourning Wash, the little boy, the preacher and Mr Universe::
Okay, first, I thought Nathan looked way better in the movie than on Firefly. Was it the haircut? Or the glimpse of nakedness? Me thinks both. Also, he and Inara, melt! Have any fanfic suggestions you can throw my way?
Loved, loved, loved all the dialogue, which was to be expected. And the sword vs. screwdriver. Nathan not killing the bad guy who only did his job and nothing more.
Movie didn't feel so much like Out in the West on the frontier set in Space as hey, here's Enterprise, but now, we are on the other side. Okay, no Enterprise so much as Marquis. (How are they spelled anyway) Fighting for survival and the good cause just for the moral need of doing so.
Kaylee wanting to stay alive for sex? Cute. Her and the doc having sex in the engine room just like that first time she came on board? Even sweeter!
Mel coming to the rescue and walking into the trap with open eyes? Yeeeessss! All for Inara. ::sings and cheers a little::
Can you tell I liked this movie yet?
Jayne had the best lines. And he was a typical: hard on the outside but soft on the inside type of guy. Wish I could quote something, but I guess I have to go see it again for that!
AndBuffy The Slayer River did an excellent job at fighting. Like a true Whedon-esque heroine saving the day. Liked how the women are so strong. Sure, it's a Joss-Verse, still remarkably and worth mentioning as that makes the movie so different from other (Space movies like Enterprise for example! Hello, Beverly and Dianna? Yeah, sure there was Jayneway, but still... the rest were mostly men)
And I loved how Inara helped the Captain get away from the trap. Saw it coming, guess that's what 8(!) years of watching Joss' work teach you.
Mr Universe? Lol. I like how Joss makes the comic/movie/computer geeks heroes. It's a little bit that Mary Sue concept, but I like it! A lot.
Overall: more than happy about it. Now I can sit back and enjoy the rest of Firefly. If you should have dared read through and want to comment please bear in mind that I am not spoiled for the series. And I have only seen a few eps yet! Also, if you have written a re-cap or an analysis or anything else about the movie or know someone, I wouldn't mind links. I know for most people it's been awhile since they've watched it, but to me it's all new!
I am very much looking forward to checking out Firefly/Serenity posts now, especially checking for icons. Yes,
monanotlisa, I am looking at you! Btw. no new Alias last week either, will send out the last eps of DH and VM with Alias this week. That ok? Hope so.
Oh, and I desperately need the Serenity soundtrack! Damn.
There was more movie goodness, but about that, later!
