more geek-y Star Wars talk
Apr. 24th, 2005 10:38 pmStar Wars ep II is on right now, and I had to watch a little. Could it be the horrible dubbing that annoys me so much? Did I watch it in English in the cinema? I hope and bet, but then it had to be the bad writing that made and makes me cringe every other minute. C-3PO: Ich bin ganz neben mir (I am beside myself) when his body/head are separated.
Some of the "characters" are just too stupid to believe, but there are also the small things that I hate. Like C-3PO being able to move his arms in all direction and just being flexible - the original one couldn't do that! Remember, he had this constraining suit on! As well as the storm troopers. It's weird seeing them play for the good guys, but they are actually talking in full sentences, saying things like "Sir" and the like and their uniforms are way too bend-y as well. They feel too much like U.S. army soldiers. And Yoda making with the battle cry? Not so much!
I know this sounds like I hate all of it, but there are actual elements I like. Palpatine is great throughout, the Fett background is quite cool and there are wonderful shots of Coruscant and the scenery in general. With one exception: That horribly kitsch-y wedding scene that was on just now.
Oh, what do I know. Maybe I am going to re-read some of those authorized sequel novels. I have that wonderful trilogy by Timothy Zahn. Or leave a little through my Star Wars Encyclopedia by Stephen J. Sansweet. < / enough with the showing my love for this universe >
Oh, and by the by: Why does Pro7 give away every funny detail and every good line of any movie or episode in the preview?
The move was way easy today. Lazy day we had.
